The 2013-14 season has come to an end for the German All Stars Casuals team and we can all agree that we can look back at a very successful year. In the first year in division 1 after the promotion last season, the expectations were rather conservative and the main objective was to stay away from the fight for relegation. It can without doubt be concluded that the objective was exceeded: With 26 points in 16 matches, the German All Stars secured the 4th place after the ‘Big 3’ Planet FC, Londonder FC and Anatolia FC.
Coach Gerd’s address to the team before the start of the season can be returned to mind: “… we will try to adapt quickly to the higher standard of our opponents and will try to collect enough points to be clear ahead of the relegation places. […] Let’s try to work hard and disciplined during our practice sessions and in the league games then there is no doubt that our opponents will start to get an unpleasant feeling again when they know that in their next game they will have to play against the German All Stars Bangkok.” Especially the encounters with the top three teams have to be highlighted. Out of the six games against the table leaders, three matches were lost in very tight matches, but it’s safe to say we created an ‘unpleasant’ feeling.
This weekend, our squad’s strength against the top teams was again underlined against Anatolia in what seemed to be a typical German All Stars match for this season. On average, spectators saw 5 goals per game with German All Star participation this season (81 goals in 16 matches) and no exception was made this weekend. Especially since both teams couldn’t change anything about their table position anymore, it was an open encounter ending in a 5:4 (1:1) win for the German All Stars. Highlights included 2 braces (by Frodo and Flo), a 25-meter hammer by Flo (possibly one of the best goals this season) and a comeback on the field by former coach Wolf! Especially the second half was a spectacular ending to a fantastic season with a deserved victory.
