It was time again: the season is over, goals were shot (and a few received), games were won, bones were broken-time for the season end trip!

After long deliberations, the responsible guys from both teams (Casuals and Vets) decided against a trip to the sea, where we’ve been the previous three years already. So, we opted for the Erawan National Park North of the city Kanchanaburi in the eponymous Changwat.

After loading all cases, kegs and cans, people of both sexes and plenty of food, kindly provided by Frank and his new restaurant “ Deutsches Eck” (www.deutscheseckbangkok.com), we finally went- through heavy traffic- towards Kanchanaburi.

After hardly five very entertaining hours we arrived heavily drunk in any parking lot. It wasn’t possible for us to recognize anything more because it was already night and we all had enjoyed a beer or two. Nevertheless, we trusted our organizers Tan and Damian, who immediately put us on small buses and with Hooray we went into the jungle depths.

We were awaited by wonderful bungalows, nicely located in the green, tastefully decorated. Anyway, no one remained there too long; it was time for more booze and food. After tapping of various barrels we had dinner and the evening was not yet to end.

Surprisingly many of us actually made it at 8 am the next morning to stand up and hike through the forest, a tour combined with boat and on foot. We aimed to the ethnic minority of the Mon and their temple, and all participants were quite enthusiastic about a wonderful experience!

The first day was entirely dedicated to relaxation:

Pool, hot springs (too hot for some, water had a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius!),  strolling in the jungle, boating or canoeing on a small lake with families and friends , or just the useless attempt to sleep away one’s hangover… To mention : All  these activities never took place far away from the next Beer Keg.

A large part of the GAS family also went on excursion to the nearby Hellfire pass, where, during World War 2, thousands of lives were wasted through most heavy forced labor.

In the evening of this first day a certain exhaustion was noticeable among some participants…

One waited for the traditional speech by  Hartwig or Gerd or both; However, the two were rather busy with a certain, black colored drink, whose alcohol content was slightly too high for some guys…. Anyway, we waited in vain on a speech, as well as on a group photo. None of the above happened.

Therefore surprisingly many people were amazingly early on Sunday and after a hearty breakfast, most of us went to the pool, picturesquely situated almost on the banks of the river.

One last barrel still had to be emptied, would have been a pity to throw away the little beer. Successfully the last drop has been emptied just in time for departure.

It should be mentioned, that a considerable part of GAS ( ‘young’ casuals without exception…) managed it, not even go to bed the previous night while playing Ukulele and drinking heavily. I guess everybody knows who is meant!

However, these fellows were  finally overwhelmed by sleep on the ride home and arrived in Bangkok well rested .Or not.  Conclusion of a wonderful season end trip:

Wonderful hotel, nice people, fascinating landscape. We are all curious where to go next year!

Finally again a big, fat Thank you to:

Tan and his Team for organizing Hotel, Trip and anything else

Hartwig and Ging for financial matters

Frank from Deutsches Eck for yummy food support

And everyone else for participating!
