German All Stars spent the past weekend at Rajpracha Sport Resort in the hills of Pak Chong near Khao Yai. As every year, the camp was organised before the first match of the season (next week), to hold various practice sessions and a friendly match against a local team as well as some team bonding activities.
This year, German All Stars were represented with a big squad and many families that joined, so that the whole delegation consisted of around 40 people. In a total of 4 training sessions (start at 7:15 in the morning), the new coach David tried to prepare the team for the long-awaited season opener against Planet FC in Pattaya next week. A long but fun Saturday session was then followed by a BBQ and Quiz night were teams of 5 players had to prove their knowledge in different categories. Although leading to some shocking revealations, the quiz saw a head-to-head finish with two teams competing for the crown decided only by a bonus question. After another early morning practice session on Sunday, the traditional ending on the pitch was a match against the local team from Pak Chong. This year however, our local contacts seemed to be a bit more competitive and sent the third division team of Pakchong City FC. With 3×30 minutes, all players were struggling after tough two days. Hence, it’s even more respectable how the team performed, especially in the first part of the match when we were leading for a long time with goals scored by Dominik and Yan (2). Only towards the end, after various changes in formation, the opponent was able to turn around the game and win 4:3. After the great performance, a draw would have been more than deserved.
All agreed that it was a successful weekend and fantasic team spirit making everyone optimistic for next week’s league match.
