GAS returned to action after having the weekend off the previous week with a game against a familiar opponent of late in the form of Pattaya City, unfortunately (for some) in territory closer to home on this occasion.

Despite good recent result against the fishing village boys and a much-changed side for the Saturday kick off, complacency was not an option and after the draw in the first game it was imperative to get a result this time out.

As has been the case lately, GAS got off to a good start, dominating the early exchanges and took a deserved early lead as a teasing ball across the box was stabbed home by the flying Frenchman (unless the Swiss do better in the summer) at the back post to make it 1-0.

As expected, GAS continued to dominate the half with stand in goalkeeper Lars pulling off a few impressive stops. It was, however, that Pattaya lot who grabbed the next goal of the game as a corner was headed in at the front post, much to the surprise of those watching proceedings. It didn’t take long for the next goal of the game as GAS continued to press and it was that man, Yan, again who put them in the lead and seemingly heading into HT up.

However a mix up at the back between goalkeeper and CB’s let the Pattaya city forward in for a simple finish and send both teams level going into the break.

After a number of HT changes the boys in gold came out knowing they needed to up their game and that only a win would do and leave them with a chance of topping the group.

A much improved second half performance was totally dominated by GAS who created chance after chance but were unfortunately not getting the rub of the green and it began to feel like it was going to be one of those days.

Fortunately, with a matter of minutes remaining on the clock, the ball was won back deep in a typical geggen pressing fashion and the forwards of GAS went straight on the attack where the ball eventually found its way to Yan to seal his hattrick and the 3 points and set up a mouth-watering revenge match against the Tender Loins of Tenderloins on Sunday 18th February!

Final score: GAS 3 – 2 Pattaya City
