GAS finished runners-up at the 2nd Hoffenheim FanClub Tournament at the Swiss School

Silverware!!!! 2nd Place for GAS Vets – unbeaten in the tournament, but also incapable to score goals. 4 draws and 2 wins with 1:0, in total 10 points and 4:2 goals (2 by Gerd, 1 Matze and 1 Richard).
Already in the first game against Swiss United, the team showed good combinations and sexy football, but also how to miss thousands of chances to win the game. All of the players in the team, beside Markus in goal missed 100% chances, but also we have to mention, that the goalie on the other site had a very good day and some unbelievable saves. So draw in the first game. The second game against Siemens again a draw which was from the result ok, as we had to play 5 minutes only with 6 players, as the coach get a yellow card for jelling at the referee (as coach this should not happen, even the ref was really not good in this game). Looking the the strongest team in the tournament Galaxy was winning game by game, it was clear, that we have to win also and to do this we had to score, which was the bigger problem. So Timo tried to motivate the team by bet 2 beer for the player scoring the first goal.
The 3rd game we played against Lufthansa and 2 minutes before end of the game Gerd scored the first goal for us, after again missing chance by chance or hit somehow a leg in between our players and the goal.
The next game was against the German Embassy and therefore a special one, as Raphi and Alex were playing on the opponent site, but we showed again good football and fighting spirit and it was Gerd again who scored the 1:0 winner against them. Galaxy game came up next and it was clear that we have to win this one if we want to have a small chance to win the tournament, as they had won all their games until now. A nice shot of Richard and a little help of their goalie gave us the 1:0 up, but only 10 seconds later we got the 1:1 equalizer and the game was over. Last game was against Schenker and we played at the beginning nice football and after a nice combination with Timo it was matze who scored the 1:0 for GAS. We had ongoing chances with the same result as the whole day already, we missed them, which was sometimes not easy to do this or nearly impossbile – right Phillip? So it came as it has to come, we got the 1:1 and looked totally stupid.
At the end due to the better goal difference we came in second after Galaxy and one place before the German Embassy – who had a game where the hand of God showed up again and remembered on Diego Maradonna with his goal at the world cup.
After the tournament we had some nice hours at the Swiss school with good German Food and lots of German Beer. Thanks here to the organizer.
