DSC_084214 players, a little bit windy and only six teams to play against-sounds good? Well, not really. Besides the nice windy conditions there was also the sun burning down on us that made us look like red Indians at the end of the tournament. Fewer teams meant also longer games, 17 instead of 13 minutes is a big difference!

14 players sound nice, but only at the beginning of the tournament. Our East German-Chinese-Phuket bomber Jens, who flew in once again and was already present at the pitch about four hours or so earlier ,played for three minutes and was injured again-same as last month. That made him the absolute record-breaking Nr. 1 for having the longest and most expensive journey with the by far least minutes to play: Two tournaments-5 minutes playing time, two injuries …and lots of scorn.(Well-intentioned, of course!)

During the tournament Pierre had to leave earlier and Michael missed the last game because of an injury. One can see, less and less players, as usual. The competition was fierce; our old friends from the Bangkok Refugees started up and showed us the way in the first game already: 1:2. Ooops.

We managed to win twice and drew goalless once, so we had the chance for the semi-finals, but unfortunately (yes, again the Refugees…) we were beaten 1:2 once again. At least we fought hard in the game for the third place, and a fight it was! At the end we were more fortunate than our Japanese counterparts and won 1:0: Silverware again!

A very special thanks to the casual players Julian and Hagen for watching/ supporting us, although we have to train them a bit for bringing beer to the pitch…next time maybe?

Thanks to our guest player Thibo from France to play a great tournament and even scored a nice goal. Special thanks to Yilmaz to show up once again and played, well, great as usual. Thanks to Philipp for coaching us successfully. And of course, last but not least, to Jens for ….eeehm, showing up? “Playing” would probably be a wrong phrase, but Kudos to his commitment!

That was the March’s Vets tournament, red like the Apaches, wet as wet can: Hobbling to the beer booth is still our best discipline. No one is stronger than us in THAT competition!
