Long story short: We sucked. Totally and unconditionally. No explanation available.
Ok, a few details for whom it may concern:
Conditions on the main pitches weren’t good enough to implement a tournament, so we had to change the location and move to the nearby Astroturf pitches. Yeah, and we played the Refugees again. And we lost again. 1:3, at least we made a goal, bomber Philip returned and made an outstanding one after a nice solo over half the pitch. Second and all the following games we had to play against Japanese teams. Anyone knows, where they all come from? We lost 0:3 and could have been happy about that result. Maybe the worst game of the day. We had some hope in the next one, after Wolf and Dirk scored and we equalized, but then it happened again as usual: Last minute, third goal for the opponents and again no points for us.
Last game of the group stage Philip made his second goal and saved us our first (and by the way only) point of the day. Luckily we ended up 5th in the group instead of last , that would have been 7th.There were even two more pathetic teams than us! But maybe interesting: We had 1 point and four goals. The next one above us, 4th place, had 9 points! Whatever, next game, same disaster, Philip made his third goal this day, the opponents made three. We just were not able to keep the ball with us, we lost almost every duel, be it in the defense or midfield or up front, no difference.
Last game we even received an unjustified penalty, Philip did NOT make a goal this time and even had to be replaced urgently before seriously injuring his opponents…
End of the day: New jerseys, 12th place from 14, bad moods everywhere. And we even did not last longest at the beer booth. On 23rd this month we have the big chance to show that we can, if we want. And we will do that. And one thing is sure: If we end up first or last, doesn’t matter. The last to go on the beer booth is reserved by a German All Star-and no one else!
