Some slight rain before the game and 20 players showing up for the final games. The coach in goal and Vikings team that do not want to lose anymore, so further pressure on us to win the games. Looks like we have to go till the final weekend to get the cup – if……
With Matze in goal (Markus is injured), Tim and Michel on the defender positions and Pablo and Nicky in center defense – Darren, Hirschle, Benni and Dave in midfield and Fabian and Tan in attack we started the 5th last game of the season.
Markus and Hartwig took over the coaching role and in the first half this was not an easy one, as the team started like last week – without spirit – and the thoughts on an easy walk over – but again the opponent showed fighting spirit and was the better team in the first half, as our players walked more over the pitch than they played, long balls and approx. 20 times offside (even if 5 times it may not be one) – here you have to play more intelligent than what we did. Sure we had the one or other chance but also Patana had the one or other one, but always missed the goal.
Even some changes did not wake up the lethargic team, to get the ball for a throw in or corner kick took ages. Again it can be only mental blockage, as we showed over the season clear that we can do better.
Halftime the coach screamed for 5 minutes and remembered the team that is football and not a nice session with beer as a reason to be on the pitch. Several changes again and a better team on the pitch in the second half, as some started to think why they are there.
It was Juergen after a corner from Hirschle, who scored with a nice header the 1:0 after 55 minutes. Another nice combination and Felipe scored the 2:0 after 60 minutes (the goal remembered me more on snooker,…) – nice goal Felipe. Alex, Damien, Robbert, Peter, Johannes, Sammy, Henry, Holger,…. – all get now their playing time and it was Fabian who was attacked in the penalty box 10 minutes to go and the following penalty Dave scored for the 3:0 final result. Again as long as we still win our games we get still 3 points and we are still 6 points ahead – now 3 games to go, as the Chinese Team took off and we do not need to play against them anymore. So two times Pickled Liver and the young boys of BSL for the last 3 games. So we need further 4 points and much better football to be absolutely sure to win the league.
