EVITE worked quite well this time! 12 confirmed players. Nine showed up. Great. At least we had a team.
With only two subs we started our group and recognized quite quickly, that it won’t be easy today. Maybe Tom’s farewell party the other day was responsible for our miserable kicks?
Four games, 2 points, 1:3 goals- just enough for a penultimate place.
The next match also got lost 0:1 and only thanks to Gerd’s wonderful equalizer in the last game and Cheng’s header we managed to avoid the last place of the tournament, which was quite a disappointment. Actually, we fought quite well and didn’t play that bad, we just had no luck and the refs seemed not to be on our side this day. (An incomprehensible penalty, a sliding goal, dozens of fouls…)
Nevertheless we had our fun, thanks to Sulee, Cheng and Gerd (twice) for scoring, thanks for all guys who showed up despite the heavy party the previous evening. And thanks to H. and M. for confirming, not showing up and even not apologize for their absence. Don’t drink if you can’t.
It also should be mentioned, that two interesting decisions were made this day:
First one from EG, concerning the tournaments rules: From now on, it is NOT allowed anymore to have a player in the team, who doesn’t reach the age of 35! Until now it was always ok when a team had one or two players below 35, but it seems there were some complaints whatsoever. So, from now on, below 35: Nope.
The second agreement was reached by ourselves and we all agreed that a player, who confirmed, doesn’t show up and does not excuse himself via phone, sms or anything else before the tournament starts, has to PAY A FEE OF 2000 BAHT to the team. I am sure, everybody understands that because it is annoying to wait and call, call and wait and even don’t get any response.
Despite a disappointing result of the day, we were strong at the beer booth again, celebrated the day with our friends from all over the world and looking forward to the next tournament, hopefully with a better result!
