CSC_0250Who would have ever thought that the Vets will be for once the team with the most subs? Ok, only four teams available, but hey, that is something, or not?

It was painfully hot this Sunday afternoon on the Ekachai pitch, all the uncountable clouds seem to avoid to stand between the sun and us and left us unprotected and suffering. Good that we had our three subs. We needed them and no one could complain that he did not play enough. Interesting maybe that we had two English teams (a bit internationally though…), a pure Thai team and us-but no Japanese teams! Nobody knew why, because usually our tournaments consist of about 70% Japanese teams. So the only Japanese was our new player Harry, who hopefully did not feel too lonely. But anyway he showed a strong appearance during the whole tournament.

First game against the English ended 1:1, 2nd game against United Nations we won 1:0 with goals from Buhary and Dave, both scored all our goals, except one from Wayne. A strong Thai team (Totos Titans) drew with us 2:2, a real fight in the heat and maybe the fastest goal ever from Buhary: About 4 seconds after the whistle he placed a dry shot in the corner, while the Thai team was still trying to take their positions.

In the second round we met the same Thai team again, but this time they were just better and beat us 1:2. So we had to play England again. A great fight, some funny situations, rough, but fair: It is just always a big fun to play against them. Anyway, they have the same problems than we do: A bit too heavy and a bit too old. But that is the spirit of the Vets! We drew 1:1 after a nice header from Wayne and had to go to penalty shoot-out. A clear thing, one might say, against an English team. But for once in a while, things can come different and with a little bit bad luck we eventually lost the game. But who cares? We ended up last, but the difference between the first and the last was very little, so we did not really feel like losers. The whole team showed a nice appearance from beginning to the end, fought bravely and as usually had good fun.

It seems that the next tournament in October will take place without a German team, so we should come back strong in November again.
